Published on Sunday, 15 september 2019 in Paris otherwise...
Bordeaux? Burgundy? Champagne? If you dream of joining in with the celebratory atmosphere of the grape harvest but have difficulty in choosing a destination, here’s the answer. The Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre (Montmartre Grape Harvest Festival) is where you need to be. Not heard of it? Then, read on as your Hotel Les Bulles de Paris team tells all.
The tradition of the Fête des Vendanges de Montmartre
Although Paris is a built-up city, you can still find little remnants of the bucolic past scattered around if you know where to look. The vineyards of Montmartre offer an excellent example. Well-established on the slopes of the hill of the same name, since 1934 the Clos Montmartre has been the centre of a hugely popular festival that draws not just the district’s locals, but people from throughout Paris and visitors to the city, too. It’s now the third best attended Paris event! From October 9th to 13th numerous activities, festivities and events await you in the charming streets of the famous hill.
Festival highlights
Cross the Seine from your Hotel Les Bulles de Paris to discover the many attractions of the Fête des Vendanges 2019. We recommend the Montée Chromatique, where a collective of artists enlists children from neighbouring schools and passers-by to create a colourful enchantment on the steps of Montmartre. Enjoy live music at the Decibels Vendanges festival, which this year is hosted by Les Petites Gouttes and the Bar Commun. Finally, after picnics, parades, screenings and much more, the five days of celebrations climax with a big closing ball on Sunday, October 13th...
The Fête des Vendanges is a much-loved traditional Parisian event. Bring the kids, or make it just you and your loved one, but don’t miss this immensely popular fun-filled festival...
